Our Story

Free Bikes for Kidz Atlanta is an affiliate of the national nonprofit, Free Bikes 4 Kidz. We believe that every kid deserves a bike, so since 2016, we’ve made it our mission to give bikes to kids in our community. You can donate your bikes to our organization, we’ll fix it up, and find it a deserving home with a deserving kid.

Mission & Purpose

Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a non-profit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. The public donates gently used bikes, we organize thousands of volunteers to clean and refurbish them, and then we give them away to kids in need.

In 2020, we gave away more than 700 bikes to kids in our community at our annual holiday bike giveaway. We work with community partners like Atlanta Public Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters, International Rescue Committee and more to match our bike inventory with the perfect recipient.

The illustration below tells Minnesota’s growth story, a story that we hope to emulate here in Atlanta. In 2020 (despite a global pandemic!), we gave away more than 700 bikes to kids in our community.

Our Method

Every year 25 million bikes are sold in the US. One-third of those bikes are 20” wheel-size, or smaller. Since kids grow like weeds, over 8 million bikes are virtually outgrown each year.  As a volunteer organization and a charity (501c3) we use local volunteers and donations to fuel the repair process of these bikes and partner with organizations that identify the children most in need.  At volume our average repair cost per bike is $25, and that includes a helmet!

Our Partners

Though the generous help of key partners FB4K-Atlanta is off to a hot start, but we still need support in building the foundation to help every kid ride into a more memorable childhood.
